Man Burning Down Dreamt that I was drowning in the Sweetest tasting sea of sin And it always seems I’m swimming after dark Waking up to loaded rooms I’m tripping charges feeling booms of Chemicals colliding with a spark Man burning down Man burning down It seems like I have gone and lost control In this room there lies a charge An elephant but twice as large Electrical and always primed to blow Man Burning down Man burning down It seems like I have gone and lost control I’m all lit up I’m firelight This charge is more than I’m designed to hold What could be more dangerous than the Dreaming truths of sleeping men Who never seem to let the past stay lost Price of doing business but Who’d have ever thought that it’s this Quiet life that comes at such a cost Man burning down Man burning down It seems like I have gone and lost control I’m all lit up I’m firelight This charge is more than I’m designed to hold Man burning down Man burning down

Guess I always sort of found it such a strange sight When I looked at you Looking like a ballerina in a bullfight Get you torn in two But you just dance around inside the stadium Making your critics look so dumb Every single thing you do just comes up roses Never break a sweat I’ve been the desert lost with Moses Close but not there yet You found the promised land, but sand is all I see So how’d you end up here with me Always makes me wonder Wonder about you You know that you could be with anyone who you could want to be How did you end up here with me You’re surrounded by a million anxious angels Poised and in their prime Always covering the spread on all your angles In the knick of time To keep you right in step with synchronicity To keep the good luck on your side Could be with anyone who you could want to be How did you end up here with me

Swim for Shore I will beat you at goodbye I will say it’s time to go Long before you will be ready It’s the only way I know I will never say it hurts I will never say you’re right Though my victories are pyrrhic I will always swim the fight I won’t forgive you Lord You know I don’t forget They say letting go is easy I ain’t learned to yet There’s no stop on my machine There’s no system override Just a series of directives leaving all demands supplied I wait on Jesus to Explain what faith is for Go ahead and walk on water I will swim for shore I can’t wait on Jesus to explain what faith is for Go ahead and walk on water I will swim for shore Go ahead and walk on water I will swim for shore

Dangerous 04:08
Dangerous Do you love as deep and full as your heart can What about that makes you such a smart man Dangerous Do you know the risks that run with the chances Yes you're telling me it's what romance is Dangerous Somewhere in the morning sun She slowly puts her blue jeans on Her face is like I swear I've known it for years I used to think she could float Away Did you lose at love and lay there in your corner With your heart caved in just like a mourner's Dangerous Don't you know it's sick to ask too many questions And the answers hurt too much to mention Dangerous Somewhere in the morning sun She slowly puts her blue jeans on Her face is like I swear I've known it for years I used to think she could float And when she finally did arise All that you could do Was fill the space that time was taking With the sound of your heart breaking Fill the space that time was taking Do you love as deep and full as your heart can What about that makes you such a smart man It's dangerous Do you know the risks that run with the chances Yes you're telling me it's what romance is Dangerous

Culled form a daylong session at the Boat in Silverlake in Los Angeles with Justin Stanley in summer of 2005. We did 8 songs, pared it down to the 4 that are here. Griddle hot, but maybe it's the batter?
